Our History

“A family owned business since 1956” Our founder Joseph John Sanford “Jack” founded Sanford Shell in 1956. He turned this small Shell Station into the #1 station for quality auto repair & service in San Francisco.

In 1971 Firestone Corporation built what is now “Sanford Firestone” for him to run as the first & only dealership in Pacifica. Jack brought his youngest son into the business in 1972 to learn from the ground up. Jack passed his “old school ways” of taking care of customers to John and from 1984 to 1992 John would manage Sanford Firestone #2 in what now is the Target Shopping Center in Colma, CA.

brake repair Pacifica In 1992, a thriving Sanford Firestone #2 was forced to close by Dayton Hudson Corporation (Target). Joining his mentor at the Pacifica store, Jack & John worked side by side for the next seven years. In August of 1999 Jack passed on peacefully at his home in Burlingame.

After 50 plus years of “old school experience” John Sanford has continued to build and improved Sanford Firestone into what is now the only AAA approved auto repair facility in Pacifica, Ca. As owner and General Manage, John hopes to bring up his son in the business and to pass on what he learned fro his father to his son Chris.
